United States Country Report | The Open Generation

Deepen Your Understanding of Gen Z in the U.S.

It’s difficult to reach and connect with people you simply don’t understand. This is one of the challenges plaguing leaders who seek to minister to teenagers.

That’s why Barna has partnered with Alpha, Biblica and World Vision—as well as a collective of other organizational partners including the Association of Christian Schools International, Bible Study Fellowship, Christ In Youth and Christian Vision—to listen to the perspectives of young people in the emerging generation.

We’re calling it The Open Generation project.

Together, we’ve conducted first-of-its-kind global research on the spirituality of teenagers (ages 13–17), taking an in-depth look at important themes such as:

Vol. 1 — How Teens Around the World Relate to Jesus

Vol. 2 — How Teens Around the World View the Bible

Vol. 3 — How Teens Around the World Can Make an Impact

This country report features data specific to the U.S.—including bonus reporting on data collected among U.S. young adults (ages 18–21) in Gen Z. In these pages, you’ll learn how Gen Z continues to grow and change, how teens and young adults differ and how these new findings about young people in the U.S. compare to global trends.

The Open Generation project will help reveal how you, your organization or your ministry can meet the teens and young adults in your community where they are and invite them into a life of drawing closer to Jesus.
